Toothpaste for people living with Sjogren’s Disease

The BioMin Australia and Sjogren’s storey :

BioMin is unlike any other toothpaste, it is designed to remineralise (repair early decay / enamel loss) and also reduce or stop teeth sensitivity.  Because BioMin can control the release of calcium, phosphate and fluoride (fluoride free also available, BioMin C) it has a higher level of performance than regular soluable fluoride toothpaste (clinical data).  BioMin also has the ability to reduce sensitive teeth or eliminate sensitive teeth (with ongoing use), unlike most products that sit on top of the enamel, BioMin enters the dentinal tubules and internally seals for a better more acid resistant outcome.

In 1997 we introduced BioMin toothpaste to Australia, though not specifically designed for Sjorgen’s patients,  we have had a lot of positive feedback from users and the dental profession. The reason for this page is to provide information for those living with Sjogrens about a product that may improve their dental health.

Enamel remineralisation and Sjogren’s disease

Dry mouth affects taste, makes chewing and swallowing more difficult, and increases the risk for cavities, tooth loss, and infections in the mouth. Saliva helps clean your teeth and reduce the amount of bacteria in your mouth that causes dental decay, it is also important in the remineralisation process for teeth.

Tooth enamel goes through process or losing (demineralisng) and gaining (remineralising) minerals. When loss is greater than gain over a period of time cavities will form. BioMin helps drive the enamel remineralisation process by uniqely extending the therpeutic availability of the essential minerals needed:  calcium, phosphate and fluoride. (BioMin C is fluoride free).  BioMin can help reverse early decay and help prevent or reduce future decay from occuring.

Sensitive teeth and Sjogren’s disease

Sensitive teeth normally occur when nerves (in tubules) become exposed. To reduce sensitivity pain, most sensntivity toothpaste, cover over the exposed areas (occlusion). BioMin is able to enter the tubule and help occlude the tubule from within. This methodology tends to give a more acid resistant outcome and help seal a larger proportion of exposed nerves. In effect reducing sensitivity pain.

The following are reviews we have receieved over the past years from customers living Sjogren’s.  We can never say the results will be replicated in other users as everybodies teeth are are different. If you purchase BioMin we hope it can help, we do not have clinical data specifically related to Sjogren’s patients.

We know from discussions with consumers who avoided the dentist completely that after using BioMin there sensitivity reduced to a level whereby they could visit the dentist. That said BioMin may not work. From the feedback we receive we do honestly beleive BioMin is worth trying.

BioMin ingredient list

We would like to highlight that BioMin toothpaste is not an oral lubricant, a seperate oral lubricant would be required.  We also like to highlight that BioMin does contain SLS (Sodium Lauryl Sulhate), some people have suggested that SLS can have a drying effect and this is not a good outcome for those living with Sjogren’s.  As per our reviews many of customers have had positive dental outcomes.
